Minutes and News June 2010

The Tennessee chapter VI of the Blue Knights met at Golden Corral in Johnson City on Thursday June 17th 2010 at 7pm. The following members were in attendance; Bud and Mason Williams, Bob and Dee Moeser, John and Sandy Holtsclaw, Lew and Retha Harvey, Rich and Clo Picariello, Pete Rambo, Dan and Pat Moeser, Neal Mendo, Sue Robert, Jack and Pat Shipley, Scott and Marie Ray, Stuart, Jason and Austin Jackson, Rick and Pat Lubow, George Leonard.

The Meeting was called to order by Bob with the Pledge and a moment of silence.
Bob shared with the membership some of the details on the new monthly ride scheduling that should be completed soon, as announced earlier Bob named Chris Carney  the chapter Ride Captain. Bob wants to expand the membership participation in club events such as charity rides. To begin soon will be scheduled rides that will be similar to dinner rides that other organizations hold, I am looking forward to getting out with large groups of our members and riding the roads, sharing a meal and conversation, this will be awesome! Bob and Chris will send further details out soon on our first of these rides, so please everybody try to work it into your schedules to attend....

Bob read a letter to the club in appreciation of our chapters monetary donation to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS).

The International board meeting minutes were discussed, I think the International Secretary is slower than I am about getting the minutes out! Bob asked that you get on the International website and make your comments on the new website, good or bad, by posting in the designated area (Bulletin Board/ Blog area).

The Blue Knights scholarship application is on the website also, keep this in mind for next year if you have kids or grand kids going off to college. These scholarships are $1,000.00 each having 5-7 a year.

Your new Mason/Dixon Conference leaders are; International Rep- Dan Moeser, Chairman- John Bull, Vice Chairman- Mike Pollinger, Treasurer- Richard Clark, Secretary- Keith Chase.....   Congratulations ! Dan Moeser....

Dan obtained the following information on the HR-218 Qualification cards. In Tennessee the POST commission is going to administer this by having the retired Officer complete a application form then having the form signed by a qualified firearms instructor then sending the completed form along with a $10.00 fee to the POST commission in Nashville, they will mail you a card.

Bob announced this Chapter was recognized for its 2009/2010 donations to the special fund.

A reminder the Next Club Ride is the Mayland College Ride on July 31st, this ride is a super ride through some pretty territory, after the ride a dinner is provided with a live band for entertainment. Please highlight this date on your calender, it benefit the American Cancer Society....

Bob asked the membership to keep in mind a ride for kids with brain tumors on August 29th in Asheville, more info to come on this one...

Lew talked about the Wounded Warrior Ride in Maryland that he attended along with 143 other bikes. He said it was a very good ride and well planned as the intersections along the route had traffic control to allow the bikes to pass in an orderly fashion.

There were 24 members in attendance at this meeting, the hour before the meeting starts is a great time to talk to your friends, family members, show your newest pictures, bikes and new gadgets while you enjoy a wonderful meal. I have noticed this at the last few meetings where it really shows that we are a family organization and one to be proud to be a part of. I hope that when we attend our club rides this year we can make a showing of numbers. The pictures that were submitted for the summer newsletter showing the 21 people representing Tennessee VI for the hummer escort really looks good. Lets have showings like this on all of our club rides this year.

Pat wants to remind all members to get people signed up for the August Bristol Race, anyone you know that is a responsible person and is 18 or over can do this for the club. Members can even participate! Call or email Pat to get more information.

The winner of the 50/50 Drawing was Marie Ray! Congratulations, buy Scott something nice..

Exciting news on Diamond Gusset Jeans

I have been working with David Hall for several months. David owns Diamond Gusset in Bon Aqua. They are the makers of Diamond Gusset Defender Jeans. David had wanted to do something to help law enforcement officers and we had discussed a discount on the kevlar lined jeans. David has agreed to give all Blueknights members a 25% discount on the defender jeans. Effective on June 22, 2010, when members order online at http://www.gussetclothing.com/, when they check out simply enter the coupon code : blueknights, all lower case, no spaces.
That will allow members to purchase the defender jeans for 86.97 instead of the 115.95 retail. Please pass this on to your members. We are going to place the link on our web page for easy access for members. We are not going to post the coupon code on the public page. Please pass this on to your members.
